RICE HUSK is the outer skin after through the rice milling process that we find in many rice mills but utilization is still small. Rice husk is covering hard coating that consists of two parts, called the lemma and palea. In the rice milling process will separate the chaff from the grain and become scrap or waste grinding.
Rice husk is categorized as a biomass that can be used for various needs such as industrial raw materials, From the rice milling process is usually obtained husks around 20-30% of the weight of the grain. Rice husks contain some chemical elements essential as can be seen below.
CONTENT : * The chemical composition of rice husk :
Water content : 9.02% , Fat : 1.18% , Crude protein : 3.03% , Oxygen : 33.64% , Carbon : 1.33% , Crude fiber : 35.68% , Hydrogen : 1.54% & Silica : 16.98%.
With the composition of chemical constituents such as the above, husks can be used for various purposes including:
* As a raw material in the chemical industry, especially furfural chemicals that can be used as raw material in a variety of industrial.
* As a raw material in the building materials industry, especially the content of silica (SiO2) which can be used to mix in the manufacture of cement, insulation materials, leather-board and mix in red brick industry.
* As a source of thermal energy in a wide range of human needs, and the burning of rice husk is stable fuels and has a lot of benefits that in addition to environmentally friendly fuels.
* As for plant mainly horticulture etc.
